Financial Aid & Expenses

Tuition for graduate programs in business is set by the University with the approval of the Board of Trustees and increases from year to year. Current University information is available at cost.ua.edu. In addition to current University fees, the Manderson Graduate School of Business charges a fee of $200 per course for all graduate students and courses.

Financial assistance normally is provided to admitted PhD students, including international students, in the form of tuition scholarships, fellowship stipends, and health insurance coverage for four years. Health insurance for spouses and children is available at a cost to the student. Doctoral students are expected to serve as research and teaching assistants.

A separate application for financial support is not required. All PhD candidates are considered unless notification is provided that a candidate will receive support from a sponsoring organization or government.

Candidates are usually notified of financial aid decisions when they receive notification of admissions.

Information about other sources of financial aid available through the University or external organizations is available at graduate.ua.edu/financial/index.html.
